Why does Luv My Pet not offer Lyme vaccine?
Lyme is not a core vaccine. It is also not necessary in the majority of dogs.
Prevention of ticks is the preferred method of prevention of Lyme disease.
Even Angell Memorial and University vet schools do not have Lyme has an annual vaccine for the
general population. There is also controversy over the vaccine's effectiveness, and the danger of the dogs that receive
the vaccine while having a positive titer that in some cases leads to serious complications, and even death.
We would like to be able to be responsive to your individual needs in this situation; however, we cannot.
We must balance the good of the whole, with our mission of providing only the core vaccines to keep a pet free of the
most common diseases at an affordable price. We do not mean to replace the traditional veterinary facility, and feel
strongly that certain procedures and services must remain in those facilities.
I have 2 dogs, 3 years old and 6 years old. One had his annual shots in February & the other in July.
Can we get them both done in Feb so that they are on the same schedule? Will it be ok for the one to have shots 6 months early?
Yes, that will be not problem to put them on the same schedule. There is no harm in doing the annual vaccines early.
What is the Corona Virus?
Corona is an intestinal virus similar to Parvo. It causes bloody diarrhea and vomiting. Cats can contract coronavirus from dogs and get an
FIP like fatal disease. Also, a corona virus in Asia mutated from some unknown animal host and is the cause of SARS. Corona is
usually self limiting, in that the dog usually recovers. However, it is painful for the dog, and owners can spend hundreds
of dollars looking for a diagnosis when their dog breaks with bloody diarrhea. It is better to prevent it since we can safely do so.
Are you able to give worm medicine for cats?
Depending on the worm, yes. Tapeworms which look like small, flat rice-like worms are most common. We do deworm for this.
What does DHPP or "4 in 1" Vaccinate Against?
A 4 in 1 is actually a cat vaccine.
It vaccinates against FVRCPC:
FVR -Feline viral rhinotracheitis
C - Calici virus
P - Panluekopenia
C - Chlamydia
A 5 in 1 is a dog vaccine and vaccinates against DHPP
D - Distemper
H - Adenovirus types 1 & 2 (includes Hepatitis)
P - Parainfluenza
P - Parvovirus
If you add Lepto, that makes the 5 in 1 a six in one (6 in 1), DHPP4L (4 strains of Lepto protected against).
Do you offer at your Petco clinics the individual Leptospirosis vaccinations and what is the cost?
We offer the 4 way Leptospirosis. However it is in combination with the Distemper-Parvo vaccine. We do not have it as a stand alone injection. It is not harmful to booster the Distemper-Parvo vaccine with the Lepto. The charge is $19.

Does LMP Provide Health Certificates?
No, we do not. Health Certificates require a USDA accredited veterinarian to examine your pet within 10 days of
your travel and certify that your pet is free of all contagious diseases. The vaccines are required for that certificate.
Most airlines accept proof of vaccines (like our vaccination certificate) for domestic flights. However, if you are traveling
abroad, or your airline is asking for a "Health Certificate," you will have to get one of those from a traditional
facility. If your airline is only going to require a note saying the shots your dog or cat received in March are not due again until
March 2008, we can do that. However, you should probably call your airline and confirm exactly what you need.
